I woke up this morning expecting to be heading home to Vancouver, but once again my plains were derailed by someone else. I have to stay two more days in the hospital simply because Dr. Hillel wants me to be absolutely sure that I can take care of my t-stent tube. I have been managing my care while here in the hospital. The only thing that nurse does is give me my medications, which I can do at home, get me water to drink, bring me food, all which I can do at home. I am up and going to the bathroom on my own, suctioning my own t-tube, which is similar to my trach tube. Thankfully we have TV here and Vickie is here. Right now Vickie and I are watching movies that come up on the TV at the hospital, so far we watched True Grit, Thorn, and now we are watching Unknown. I love True Grit, I saw this movie a while ago, and I am not sure how I feel about the Liam Neeson movie Unknown. I try to stay away from thrillers, but since I am already in the hospital and had my surgery and don’t expect another one for a long time I am watching it. I am also writing on my computer, checking emails, downloading books on my kindle, and doing the face book thing while she is watching the boob tube, as she likes to call it. I am also chatting with the nurses. I met a nurse who is bald herself and she wears these beautiful wigs and she has a new personality.
Anything to keep my mind off my disappointment, okay the blessings I am experiencing today consist of these things. One, I have my own private room. Two, Vickie and I have been filled up on the meals that I order for my meal times. Three, Rob and Kris is letting Vickie use their car. Four, Vickie is here with me. Five, I have my computer and with Internet access. It is not too bad. And the best of all my blessings is I am able to breathe. My voice is still horse from my surgery and hurts badly and talking is a challenge. I hope that my voice will come back to full throttle soon and I will be rocking and rolling, but for now I will be enjoying be served for the weekend. Here is hoping Monday I will be on my way home and be able to enjoy my family.
