“The Artist Way” by Julia Cameron is a book that has been around for a long time. I finally got my hands on a copy of the book and the journal that comes with it. I am just starting week three of the exercises that she has you do to unblock your creativity. I have not done a great job so far. One of the things she has you do is have “artist days” in which you take yourself alone on an excursion to do something you enjoy doing that is creative. Whether you go to an art gallery, go to a coffee shop, or a park, it doesn’t matter where. The goal is to allow you to become free from the tangles that life offers from responsibilities, to other things that can cause distractions from the creative person that is inside all of us. I have been good about writing the “morning pages”. Which is where you write a mandatory of three pages a day to, it can be anything you want to write, you just have to write, I like that.

(A statement in Cameron’s book that hit home for me.)

The reason I am writing this post is on one of her assignments she wanted me to do for week two was to write down ten things that I would like to do. Then set goals to accomplish that purpose.
Here is what I would like to do: though I am still working on the details, such as how I am going to get to that point and my list seems so simple than what I would expect a 38 year old woman to want, but this is what I truly want to accomplish.
I would like to get my book published
I would like to hone my writing craft
I would like to get a couch, book case, and a desk
I would like to have regular evenings with friends and family of fun and not just taking to my doctor appointments.
I would like to go to the beach put my feet in the sand and absorb the sights and smells.
I would like to bake some yummy bread
I would like to go to the library
I would like to print out all my photographs and make a photo journal of my life.
I would like to plant a beautiful patio garden just for me.
I would like to travel to Italy to eat, smell, and see the sights.

What creative excursions would you do if you had the chance?
