I am happy to report that my doctor visit yesterday went well. I didn’t need any shots to my stoma this time. The doctor said “we dodged a bullet”. What he means by this is that when I got the staph infection like all infection inflammation arises to conquer the invading pathogens. We all know I have an issue with inflammation especially in my throat. Though inflammation is important in the healing process, it is dangerous to me because my body does not know when to shut it off. I am also happy to report that I can take my trach out and put it back in with no pain. The pain was due to the staph infection in my stoma. I have been upping my hand washing and being extremely careful with the care of the trach when I am cleaning it. I am now working on my 7th month of no throat surgeries. My goal is a year. I know God has my back in this simple request. I feel I am now in balance and have a good regiment. Though some things do need to be tweaked and come to think of it life is like that. Sometimes things don’t go as planned and so making small adjustments helps put things into balance.

On a happy note, I finally watched “The Hobbit”. I love it. “The Hobbit” is my favorite story of the entire “Lord of the Rings” series by Tolkien. As usual watching Bilbao being offer an adventurous journey reminded me of my own journey. Heck, I didn’t want to go, I refused, and I even kicked and scream. Eventually, I walked my path and went on the journey. I also found qualities that I didn’t know I had like Bilbao did. I am looking forward to the second “Hobbit” movie, where the dragon comes in.

Today will be a quiet day. I will be writing my third essay for my book. My caregiver will be here and I plan on sending him out grocery shopping. I am craving a Carl’s JR burger, and thankfully I have a coupon to make it cheaper. My body is craving the red meat, which is when I start craving a good burger. I know this because every time I am getting out of the hospital and I lose a lot of blood I crave a burger. In fact, one time while I was in the hospital my sister was with me and I mentioned this to her and she played me “The Cheeseburger song” by the Veggie Tales. All I can is this made my day. I am learning to find small moments where I am enjoying my life. My small moment of joy yesterday was watching “The Hobbit”. What are your small moments of joy?
