While at my sister in law’s house I was reading in “Jesus Calling” and I came upon this verse 1 Corinthians 12:7-9

“And to keep me from being puffed up and too much elated by the exceeding greatness preeminence of these revelations there was given me a thorn a splinter in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, to rack and buffet and harass me, to keep me from being excessively exalted. Three times I called upon the Lord and besought Him about this: But He said to me, My grace My favor and loving kindness and mercy is enough for you sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully; for My strength and power are made perfect fulfilled and completed and show themselves most effective in your weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weakness and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ the Messiah may rest, yes may pitch a tent over and dwell upon me!” (The Amplified Bible)

When I read this a light bulb went on in my head. Though, I don’t let on about being ill all the time, people know I am, but I choose not to whine and pitch a fit about it because why make others miserable, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been complaining and begging God to tell me why I got this rare Vasculitis disease and why I can’t breathe and to heal my breathing issue.

Perhaps this is my own reason to keep me from being in ego mode. Maybe, if I was completely healed I would be so focused on my healing I would forget about the one who healed me.  Perhaps these trials are not punishments, but a way for us to move forward in life to learn to lean and trust in Jesus at all times. I know that I rely too much on my own ego reasons to get through my day or even to fix my problems. I don’t go to God whom I should go to first.

This week has been tough for me, but I made it through with help. A lot of help, I am still exhausted, but I do feel good about what was accomplished.

I signed up this week for a “Living Well with Chronic Conditions” workshop that will be starting on October 17, 2013. I wanted to take this workshop in May, but I was unable to attend at that time, but thankfully it was offered again. What will be a part of this workshop according to the brochure I received:

Support

Practical ways to deal with pain and fatigue

Better nutrition and exercise choices

Understanding new treatment choices

Learn better ways to talk to your doctor and family about your health

Check them out at that their website and maybe they might have a class offered in your neck of the woods. This program was designed by Standford University. How cool is that?
