thrive

I have a confession I have no idea who Mark Hall is or the band Casting Crowns. I still felt lead to read his book “Thrive” when it was offered on Netgalley. I am glad that I followed Jesus lead in choosing to read this book. After I finished reading I went to Youtube and found the video to their song “Thrive”, awesome song. I also was able to talk to one of my big sisters about Mark Hall and Casting Crowns and low and behold she knew about them and enjoys their music and didn’t realize they had a new song and book coming out. I am glad I was able to share with her.

Hall’s most important point in this lady’s opinion is that we should not be such surviving, but thriving with our relationship with God and our lives. Hall talks about relationships, with his community, church, family, friends, and others we may meet on our paths.  One of the scriptures in “Thrive” that struck a nerve in my soul and heart was: Philippians 2:3-11

Do nothing from factional motives through contentiousness, strife, selfishness, or for unworthy ends or prompted by conceit and empty arrogance. Instead, in the true spirit of humility lowliness of mind let each regard the others as better than and superior to himself thinking more highly of one another than you do of yourselves. Let each of you esteem and look upon and be concerned for not merely his own interests, but also each for the interests of others. Let this same attitude and purpose and humble mind be in your whish was in Christ Jesus; let him be your example of humility. Who although being essentially one with God and in the form of God possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God, did not thinking this equality with God a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained, but stripped himself of all privileges and rightful dignity so as to assume the guise of a servant slave in that he became like men and was born a human being. And after he appeared in human form, he abased and humbled himself still further and carried his obedience to the extreme of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore because he stooped so low God has highly exalted him and has freely bestowed on him the name that is above every name, that in at the name of Jesus every knee should must bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth. (Amplified)

Check out Mark Hall’s book, the song Thrive, and get to worshiping and thriving in Jesus.
