Every Great and deep difficulty bears itself its own solution. It forces us to change our thinking in order to find it.  Niels Bohr

Wow, the first month in 2014 went by fast, didn’t it? In January, I have done a few things to change my circumstances. One, I let go one caregiver and hired a new one. The new one starts on February 10th, 2014. It was a difficult decision to make and a hard thing for me to step out of my comfort zone and purposefully make myself a priority in my own health care. I have done it in many other ways, but letting go of someone who was a negative impact on my life was a choice that I needed to make for me. I have a lot of things I want to do for 2014. I am going to take it one month at a time, because planning the entire year is way too overwhelming for me right now.

The month of January consisted of me being a part of many summits from the Life Change Summit put on by Hayhouse the second week of January, to the Paleocon and the Nutrition summit that are going on right now. I am learning a lot about how my emotions play into the choices I have made and that eating no grains at all helps my body best. I also am learning that eating dairy every single day is not a good choice for me either, because of all the mucus it produces for my body. I notice all the mucus now because of having a trach and let me tell you it is a disgusting experience and an eye opening experience. I also joined the Lift Paleo challenge for a period of time to see how this works for my body. I will keep you posted.

Change is difficult. Change is often times the solution to the problems of life too. I have experienced this first hand as my body has been changing in the last 5 years from being ill with Wegener’s and now healing to where I will be getting rid of my trach on April 7th. I also know that a part of helping me move on and change my body, mind, and direction is changing my environment to a more calming and goal oriented environment.

My goals for the month of February include:

Drinking more water, at least 3 liters a day I am doing this currently. I know staying hydrated helps me so much.

My neighbor and friend Christopher who is training to become a skating coach has agreed to start helping me train for the bike marathon that I want to do in June/July 2015 by walking.

I also will be buying a note book today so that I can start writing down my food choices and water intake so that I know that I am meeting my goals and I am more mindful of all the food I am eating.

And of course, I will be continuing my spiritual practice of reading my daily devotional and getting into God’s word.

One month and one day at a time is my motto. What are your goals for the month?
