proverbs

Did you know that the words we say to ourselves and to others can either mean life or death to you? Proverbs 18:20-21 states this clearly “A man’s moral self shall be filled with the fruit of his mouth; and with the consequences of his words he must be satisfied whether good or evil. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it for death or life.”

I have been thinking a lot about how I talk to myself and how I allow others to talk to me. I am a cruel vicious heartless woman to myself. I insult myself all the time. I don’t believe in my dreams and the purpose I know that is from God. I insult myself and my current circumstances. I also allow others with their rude remarks lead me to the death of my normal cheerful and joyous disposition. Reading Proverbs 18:20-21 states that our words our powerful. They come promote Death or the can promote Life. I want my words that I say to myself and to others to promote Life and not Death.

With this in my mind, clearly I need to break the habit of talking poorly about myself and my abilities so I made a plan of attack. Besides reading God’s word daily, which does helps a lot. I am also saying affirmations. My affirmation this month is “I move beyond old limitations and now allow myself to express freely and creatively.” I will work on one affirmation a month so that I can build the habit of talking kindly to myself and not speak Death, but speak Life. How about you?
