I have been reading a lot of blogs about choosing one word to concentrate on for the year instead of making a New Year’s resolution pick a word. I thought about this for a bit and I decided that my word for 2014 will be STRENGTH.

Strengths meaning in the dictionary:

Strength: 1. The state or quality of being strong.

Strong: 1. Having a force of character, will, morality or intelligence. 2. Having a force of conviction or uncompromising feelings. 3. Having the capacity to withstand force. 4. Solid, tough, firm. 5. Not feeble, faint, fearful or faithless. 6. Not easily defeated or captured. 7. Having strength or power greater than average or greater than what is expected.

I will be focusing on strength as I take on changing how I choose to fuel my body each and every single day of 2014. Not only that, I am reminded that I also need to protect and put boundaries up concerning my heart because in order for me to proceed with my assignment I must have a good heart and attitude I can’t share my joy if I am not joyful, right?  I discovered that a couple of people that I thought were my friends were in fact my enemies. They have been mocking me and how I breathe and walk. I have a trach, which you probably already know my dear reader. And even though I choose joy a lot of the time, I also hate how I have to breathe. Through a metal pole that sticks out of my trach and makes me cough and make strange noises even when I am trying to walk or live my life. I have been blessed with some amazing people who accept this, yes, they think it is dirty and gross, heck I think that, but they respect me enough to not make fun of me and they understand this is not something I choose. I am still hurt and processing through my emotions and strength will help me take the actions that I need in order to make the changes I need to make in my life. God has instilled on my heart a verse this morning as I read my devotional about being a good neighbor. Here is the verse and what it says in the Amplified Bible:

Luke 10:28-37

And Jesus said to him, you have answered correctly, do this and you will live enjoy active blessed, endless life in the kingdom of God. And he determined to acquit himself of reproach said to Jesus, and who is my neighbor? Jesus, taking him up, replied, a certain man was going from Jerusalem down to Jericho and he fell among robbers, who stripped him of his clothes and belongs and beat him and went their way unconcernedly leaving him half dead, as it happened. Now by coincidence a certain priest was going down along that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. A Levite likewise came down to the place and saw him, and passed by on the other side of the road. But a certain Samaritan, as he traveled along came down to where he was, and when he saw him, he was moved with pity and sympathy for him and went to him and dressed his wounds, pouring on them oil and wine. Then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn and took care of him. And the next day he took out two denarii two days wages and gave them to the innkeeper, saying take care of him; and whatever more you spend I myself will repay you when I return. Which of these three do you think proved himself a neighbor to him who fell among the robbers? He answered the one who showed pity and mercy to him. And Jesus said to him, Go and do likewise.

Strength is my word because God is letting me know that I must concentrate on this word as I walk down the path of making healthier and wiser choices in my life. My stepping stones include, choosing healthy fuel to feed my body the nutrition it needs to battle inflammation, move my body so that I can get Healing Voices out and the cards that I am making in order to help those in similar situations as I am, having healthy and loving and supportive relationships that fuel me with encouragement as I face my challenges, and learning to be kind and respectful to those who mock me, ridicule me, and demean me and my disabilities.
