I got the opportunity to read Dr. Judith Orloff’s new book “The Ecstasy of Surrender”. The section of the book that truly struck a nerve with me focused on Illness and pain and how to surrender to it. Surrendering is not a get out of pain or jail card, but it is a way of letting go of the bitterness and the frustrations of having an illness or the other obstacles that are blocking you from being your best creative self.  It allows you to forgive and live an amazing life.

I struggle with the letting go. I struggle with ecstasy. If I were to be truly honest with myself and you, my dear reader I would say that this struggle shows up quite often in my life. I have a hard time letting go, especially when I am in front of people and just enjoy the music, the dancing, or the pure aspects of ecstasy.

“The Ecstasy of Surrender” has many tools and ideas to help with the letting go and enjoying what is around you. I have looked at my illness as a huge blessing. With my illness I have learned to listen to my body and my intuition when it comes to what my needs are. The next step is finding out what safe ecstasy feels like and experiences this. I have brief moments.

It is time to expand my horizons and dance among the waves with a joyful step no matter what those who are around me.
