change

Reading “Change Your Mind Heal Your Body” by Anna Parkinson was like reading my own journey through my own illness. No I don’t have a tumor in my brain. What I do have is an inflammation disease the closes off my throat and with having about 40 surgeries in the last 5 years in order to keep my throat open. Like Parkinson I learned the power of healing my body with how I think and my attitude.  In fact, recently my rheumatologist said so in his compliment me to me. “You are the reason you are healing” were his exact words.

I am not going to say it is easy to keep your attitude up, because it is easy to fall into the rut of comparing yourself to other healthy people and to beat yourself up over and over. Lucky for me I had the support I needed in order to focus on my healing. Yes, I still have my disease, but the medications I am taking and the healthy choices I am choosing to do are healing my throat. The proof is in the picture of my throat.

This book is a great memoir of how working on your mental health as well as your physical health will help you on your healing journey. I hope that everyone takes the time to read and absorb the information. Happy healing.
