“Answering the Creative Call” by Kim Antieau is an awesome book. I love Kim’s suggestions and wisdom that she shares through-out her book. I have been reading Kim’s blog Furious Spinner for a lot of years now, probably the past ten years if I truly sit down and think about it. My sister Joy from Joystory introduced me to reading Furious Spinner. I have not read any of Kim’s books. This was my first one. I know her writing style. I find it simple, elegant, and right to the point. I like that. I am lucky that Kim some time ago offered a few of her books to read for free and I chose to read “Answering the Creative Call”.  It spoke to my soul. I was happy I did. Because finding my own creative mind has been a challenge. I have always appreciated others creativity, but didn’t think I had it in me.  When I got sick with GPA and RA and lost my voice for periods of time. I realize that my voice was important to me. I realized that I needed to take some time to get to know me as a person and to follow my own call. I have done a couple of the suggestions that Kim’s talks about in her book. I did the collage; I didn’t do it to find my own creative being. I used collage to guide me through healing. One of the first pictures I cut out was a boy with a wooden box with just a little slit cut in it. It was in a foreign county and I am sure it was used as a punishment device. It opened up a lot of wounds that needed to be healed so that I can step through a new door in my life. Collages do that.  I still have the collage I made and I realized that my healing and my voice were deeply valuable and important to me. I also journal and this has opened up the world of writing to me. It gives me a place where I can verbalize my pain, frustrations, and happiness without the fear of being judged, rejected, or criticized. I firmly believe everyone needs a place to freely speak without the negatives whether from our own mind or from others to control our lives.

Thank you Kim for writing an inspirational book and I look forward to reading more of your books in the future.
