In exchange for my review I was given a free copy of Close to you by Kara Isaac. The opinions expressed are my own.

I am not much for romance novels. The overly sexualize image of a man on a horse who is going to somehow become my knight in shining armor while I’m wearing this white dress in heels. No thank you. Close to You by Kara Isaac is not that kind of novel. I enjoyed the imagery of New Zealand and the way she used “The Lord of the Rings” and “Hobbit” motifs in her storyline. It was a sweet story where each character had their own story to share.

These are the 4 things that I enjoyed while reading Close To You by Kara Isaacs

  • That the lead heroine Allison is not a damsel in distress. She is a woman who has some issues and with steps learns to use her voice and stand up for herself in the end.
  • That the male character Jackson is not some overly sexualize man who is swooping into save Allison, but he is a real man with real issues of his own and learns to use his own voice.
  • That Isaacs uses Christian principles for her character Jackson in finding what he truly wants in his life. Not money, but family and to have a sense of integrity.
  • That you can find romance and still be a strong woman or man despite having issues.
