almostLast Friday, I had my second round of Rituximab. A chemo drug that I use to help me fight my RA and Wegener’s disease. I was happy that I had a chance to get lost in a story while I recovered. Terry McMillan’s book “I Almost Forgot About You” is about a woman named Georgia who goes on a journey discovering forgiveness for the men who hurt her. She searches them out and talks to them and along the way she learns how to open up and love again. The characters made me laugh, as all the characters in all of McMillan’s do. You can find yourself and your friends and your family.

This is what I learned from reading McMillan’s story:

  • You can find love no matter what age you are. Georgia’s mom find it at 82 years old in her retirement home. So sweet.
  • Change happens a lot, you have to roll with the moving earth in order to accomplish anything.
  • It is okay to dream and to pursue a new dream no matter what age.
  • Love is complicated. It isn’t always smooth and easy. There are many obstacles and challenges.

I love that Georgia pursued her new creative endeavor and found love. She is a great role model. This book gave me a lot of joy and made me laugh several times. Just what I needed.

I hope you will check it out and enjoy a great book.

In exchange for my honest review I was given a copy of I Almost Forgot About You by Terry McMillan from Blogging for Books. The opinions I express are my own.
