Confession time, although, I have diabetes, Rheumatoid arthritis, Limited Wegener’s, I do not track my food, blood sugars, exercise, or anything else. Yes, I am well aware of the reasons why I should. I just haven’t. There are several reasons why I haven’t tracked anything.

My reasons:

  • Testing my blood sugar hurts.
  • It is time consuming.
  • I don’t like the results and therefore if I don’t pay attention to it. It somehow, magically disappears. (I know not the truth)
  • I would rather be doing other things.

Like I stated above I know the importance. I know what tracking does to help you in your wellness journey.

From firsthand knowledge:
Tracking helps you evaluate what you are eating that is making your blood sugars high.

Tracking helps you see what foods you are eating when you have heartburn, joint pain, breathing issues, or gut issues. It’s a wonderful tool for that.

Tracking helps you and your doctor decide what is working and what isn’t.

Tracking helps you and your trainer decide what exercises are helping and what ones are not.

Tracking keeps you connected to your wellness goals.

There are so many different ways of keeping track. There are a lot of apps out there to help you keep track of your diabetes. Since, I don’t have a smart phone. I have a dumb phone. My options are limited. I do not like Myfitness pal. I have used this but it is not user friendly. I like old fashion pen and paper. Although, I would love an app that I can just put on my tablet and keep track. I have not found one that works for me.

My sister bought me 3 gorgeous journals, so I have made the intentional decision to keep track of my medications, my blood sugars, what I am eating, and what movement I have done. That way I can make better informed, intentional choices on my wellness journey. I encourage you my dear reader to do the same. Let’s keep track together. Share what you do to keep track and how it has help you on your wellness journey.

Below are some apps that I have found for your smart phone:

Diabetes Goal Tracker

Glucose Buddy
