priceless

I am a big fan of For King and Country. My sister and I saw them play in Portland Oregon on May 10 of this year. They rocked the show. I was excited to learn that they wrote, produced, and made a movie called “Priceless”. I was even more excited when I was offered a chance to read the book they’ve written called “Priceless: She’s Worth Fighting For.” I wasn’t sure what it was about, but I knew from their lyrics it would be raw, real, and healing at the same time. I was not disappointed. I’m looking forward to the film in October.

“Priceless” takes a serious look at human trafficking and how it affects the value of women. The main character James rescues two sisters from human trafficking. It’s a powerful story. Suffix to say James goes through his own turmoil, but finds the courage to help someone one. It changes his life. I’m not going to tell you too much of the story. I want you to read and get a chance to experience the moving story yourself. I appreciate the fact that a man values women enough to help them and not see them as sex objects or victims of human trafficking. When I read this novel, I decided that I needed to do some reading about human trafficking. Here is what I have learned. There are 20.9 million victims in this billion dollar industry worldwide. There are 1.5 million in North America who are victims of human trafficking. Yes, America has sex trafficking and those who work as slaves. I’m sad that so many are victims. That so many take advantage of the relaxed laws and take advantage of others. I have a feeling that the goal of For King and Country is to make people aware of this issue. To bring this issue to the masses so we can help those who are victimized. I do want to share a link that I found in my research of a couple of people who are actively helping victims get away and start living a life where they are valued.

I highly recommend that everyone takes an opportunity to read “Priceless: She’s Worth Fighting For” and watch the movie when it comes out in October. Better yet, explore what human trafficking and modern day slavery is now. Use your voice to help others.
