Two weeks before I was going in for my Tracheal Stenosis surgery I read a magnificent book about journaling. “Let it Out” written by Kate Dalebout. Journaling has been a sacred connection and practice that I have been using since I started my journey with my illnesses, especially my tracheal stenosis. I needed a safe place to vent, I needed a safe place that I could work out problems and talk to God about them without the fear of judgment or stares of what is wrong with you lady. You see, I was fighting a battle with my own body, with my own ability to breath healthy. It’s been a long journey. Recently, I have been journaling a lot about the emotional aspects, benefits, and the possibilities of a new surgery that hadn’t been done before on my trachea and I needed to talk and release my fears, and find the inner warrior that God has blessed me with. I knew no one could help me work through the problems. Only Jesus and I could do that.

Below is an awesome quote that totally gets what I am trying to say.

“Journaling is the plumber that can unclog the mind that’s bagged down with years of old gunk and clear out repetitive, destructive thoughts and beliefs.” Kate Dalebout

In Dalebout’s book, you dive in a ton of different ways of journaling, from making lists, to releasing emotions, to making plans, to releasing fears, and the baggage that comes with it when you don’t let it go and let God. God tells us to be still, and journaling is one thing I do that allows me to be still. I pray to God in my journal. For me, writing works better for me when I am praying. It feels like I am writing a letter to an old familiar friend. It reminds me of the thing that I used to love doing when I was younger, writing letters and mailing them the old fashioned way. That connection has become my saving grace while I’m continuing to maneuver through the process of discovering my realm of possibilities on this new chapter in my life. Journaling is one of the many steps I will be taking on my wellness journey. I hope you will consider journaling as a step for you to consider in your own journey.

If you are unfamiliar or feel ridiculous about journaling “Let It Out” has ton of great ideas and insights so you can find the write space and way to journal through some things. You will not regret this purchase. I know I did not regret reading and being reminded. Heck I found some new ways to journal for my own wellness.

I also found that Kate Dalebout has podcast and it is enjoyable and witty. Here it is in case you want to listen to it. I have been enjoying listening while I am checking email and weaving through Facebook. I have laughed and had my own Aha moments. I know you will too.
