I am not a huge sports fan. However, I love reading memoirs of people men and women who have challenges and work through them and live well anyway. Daniel Ponce De Leon’s story is just like that. He sustained a fractured skull and worked hard to achieve his dream of becoming a pitcher again. He achieved that goal. He did not achieve his goal alone his faith in God, his supportive medical team, and his supportive family helped him achieve it. This book shows what can happen when you let go of fear and move forward anyway through the muck and mire of the painful moments in life, including a skull fracture.

As someone who lives with a chronic illness true stories like Ponce gives me the hope to keep trucking on. I think any man or woman baseball fan or not would be inspired reading this memoir.
