Just finished reading a great novel by Canadian/Korean author Pik-Shuen Fung first book Ghost Forest. I received this book in February or March in the LIterati Book Club selection, but because my to be read pile is huge. I was not able to read it with the club members and I finally got to dive into it. I felt like I was reading poetry, elegant poetry. Beautifully written, soulfully written. I appreciate the short snippets of the chapters. Short and to the point. I also appreciate the topic she is writing on grief and losing her father to death. I was reminded of my own process of when my father was dying and watching him deteriorate and not be able to do anything to stop the process of death. One goes through a lot of emotions during this time period, both the one dying and the one who is watching. It is painful. It is hard to express those emotions. This book is about that process and the relationship between a father and his daughters and his wife. I look forward to seeing what other books Fung writes and diving into them too.
