My weight has been an issue for me my entire life. I remember being ten years old and doing a milk shake diet with my birth mom. It tasted nasty. My birth mom was obese too. I did countless diets, saw dieticians even at Shriners Hospital and had to follow this diet plan. It followed me into adulthood. In Oprah and Dr. Jastrebaff’s book Enough on her research for the weightloss medication and how and why she got into the research to help with obesity. I felt a kinship to Oprah. I felt a kinship with the people Dr. Jastrebaff described and talked about in her book.

I am lower in weight than I have been in over ten years. Not because I took the medication or did the weight loss surgery or followed some magical diet that she made the weight fall off. I got sepsis and it changed my stomach and the amount of food I can eat. Although, I am appreciative of the weight loss, how I got there was not fun, and the fact that I am not getting the nutrients that I need to be well is not either.

Obesity is a real medical issue that affects the brain and how we crave and view food. Society has zero respect or tolerance for those who are overweight.

I am glad that research is being done to see how to help people with weight issues and if there is a medication that can help, then I believe that is a good thing. People should have all the tools that they need to live a great life. I am glad that I listened to this book and opened my mind and heart to the fact that obesity is a medical issue and not a character defect.
