While admitted at OHSU I listened to the audiobook Broken Horse by Brandi Carlile. I purchased this book over a year ago and it took some time to actually listen to it. While coloring I listened to Carlile examine her life and what made her most creative self. I love the fact that at the end of each chapter she sang a couple of her songs. Songs that brought special meaning to the stories of her life she told us about in the chapter. I learned that she is a fellow Washingtonian. I learned that she struggled with being poor and the functions of a dysfunctional family, but she has learned to love herself and create a beautiful family. Her life is a beautiful creation that she earned with her struggles and her choices she has made. Keep going, keep writing, keep playing, and keep on trucking along.
