This year I started considering skin care. I have never been a make-up, skin care, facials, pedicure, manicures kind of girl. I have done them, reluctantly with some of my friends, but I never saw the point. I believe part of that is a strong memory from my birth mom that I wasn’t worth anything and in my mind that meant that I didn’t have to take care of my skin or my body, heart, or mind. As I am getting older and healing I am realizing that I need to take care of my skin, my body, and heart.

This month I received as part of a subscription box Delia Skin Care Hydrating Serum that you use on your face. At first, I was wondering what the heck do I do with this. My caregiver, who does skin care, facials, and beauty stuff with her mom and daughters had to explain how to use and what to do with it. Before I explain how I am using it let me talk about this product.

According to the Delia website here is what is in this serum and the benefits you gain from using them.

Apricot Kernel Oil: Moisturizing and emollient. Helps exfoliate while relieving inflammation and retaining moisture.

Rice Bran Oil: Improves circulation, evens out skin tone, increases skin regeneration, and boosts moisture retention.

Jojoba Oil: Is anti-inflammatory and reduces redness. Vitamin E and B-complex vitamins help repair damaged skin.

Carrot Seed Oil: High in vitamins and minerals.  Great for rejuvenating and regenerating skin to help improve complexion. Great for dry/mature skin.

Pomegranate Seed Oil: High in Omega-5 fatty acids. Strong anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties. Also helps unclog pores.

Vitamin E: Helps reduce appearance of scars and sun damage. It also keeps skin hydrated and calm.

Grapefruit Essential Oil: High in antioxidants and cleansing properties.

Sweet Orange Essential Oil: High in vitamin C, collagen production and blood flow.

Mandarin Essential Oil: Great for dull skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

I am not able to smell this serum, but my caregiver says it smells amazing. I believe her look at the natural ingredients listed. I can just imagine how this smells.

This is how I have been using this product in my skin care. Every night as part of my bedtime routine I put a couple of drops of this oil in my hand and then add my moisturizer and use it on my face. My face is so soft and it feels good on my face. I also put it on after my weekly mask treatment.

This oil is $40 dollars, which is kind of spendy. I understand the price because of looking at the ingredients listed, but still this doesn’t fit in my budget that much. I am thankful I received as part of a skin care subscription box that a friend gifted me. I will be writing reviews on several of the products I have received in this subscription box because I want this blog to be about taking care of my body, heart, and soul and when you live with a chronic illness you sometimes forget about the non-medical aspects of your life. Taking care of my skin is important to me, because I have a couple of chronic conditions that affect my skin and the skin is the largest organ of the body and it is important we take care of it. Delia, I notice uses natural, non-toxic ingredients for their skin care. I love that. The founder of Delia understands this and she is fair with her pricing too.

I would recommend this product. I know you would love the way your face will feel after using it. It is soft. Plus it smells amazing and it is natural.
